The Nutcracker

So, I told you in a previous post that my dad and me were going to see The Nutcracker.  And sure as horses are my favorite animal, we went. 🙂

We left early, drove our car to the train station and took a Sky Train (a train that has its tracks set up high in the air, like a big bridge) and finally got off at Granville Station.

From there we walked around in the city (don’t worry we didn’t go over all of the city.  This is the city of Vancouver that we are talking about, after all ;)) until we found the theater place where we were going to see The Nutcracker.

However it didn’t start for two hours still, so we went to a nearby Indian restaurant called ‘The India Gate’.

The food was really good, I got some stuff called Samosa and my dad got this spicy chicken stuff with sauce.  There was also this crunchy, thin, kind of bread that you could break off and dip into a sauce.  And there was garlic bread or something.  We also got two mango-smoothy-things for desert.  All in all, it was a good meal.  (The next morning, however, I got sick because I’m not used to all the Indian spices or something).

So then we walked back to the theater and went in, showed them our tickets, waited until the doors that let you into the big room where we’d be watching the ballet opened, found our seats and waited for it to begin.

It was really nice/fun, there were a lot of children dancers and a lot of other cool dances.

But honestly…  I can’t really explain it to you!

However, I have some pictures of my outfit that I wore to The Nutcracker.  Plus some pictures that I found online of the production that we went to. 😉

What’s New in Canada

I’ve only been in Canada for a few days and am already finding myself falling head over heels in love with the place!  Especially over the “Western Trinity University” that my dad goes to.  As we haven’t moved into our to-be-new-house, and still have about 4 weeks to go before the family who owns it moves to Uganda for a year–we are stuck living in a two bedroom apartment for while we’re waiting.  It’s actually called a ‘Dorm’ and it’s at the University my dad goes to.

And–I already have new friends! 🙂  Not new best friends.  Jenna is still my best friend, but they are very good friends!  Their names are–Kristy age 11.  Kristy’s older sister Laura age 13, and Emma age 7.  Emma also has a brother who my brothers want to all play with constantly, I think he’s 9…

Well, here’s the awesome part!  Kristy and Laura’s apartment is DIRECTLY above ours! 😀  And Emma’s is upstairs but at the other end of the hallway. 😉

Our apartment/dorm is like most.  It has two bedrooms with two beds in both of them.  (Also a mattress set on the floor for my youngest brother, Clint.)  A Living room with a TV.  No Cable, but so what?  there are hardly any good shows on at night and we’ve never really had Cable anyways!  Plus–we’ve managed to hook our Wii up to our TV so I can play Mario Kart and Star Fox Adventures, etc.  There is a large closet in the hallway, a very small kitchen, and lastly a bathroom.  (No tub just shower, that’s going to be a large adjustment for my 3 brothers who have only ever taken baths.  LOL!)

You’d think I’d be bored in a small living area that Echos my brothers making their loud noises from the other end of the hall.  But truthfully–I like it here!  No, wrong…I LOVE it here! 😀 😀  I mean, I still get bored.  But I have the Wii, my D.S, the Portable DVD player for if I want to watch a movie, and my LPS’s.  (Littlest Petshops.)  Oh, and I get to get on the laptop sometimes.  (It’s hard to share only one computer with a studying father, a blogging mother, and computer game loving brothers. :/)

Now don’t go thinking my life revolves around video games, because it doesn’t.  It might have at one point, but it does absolutely not only revolve around video games now! 🙂 I get bored cooped inside, hearing my brothers yell, and playing video games for to long.  So for literately every single day that I’ve been here, I’ve gone hiking with my new friends Kristy and Laura!  And there is SO much to explore and see! :O

We go to some woods that start on the school property, but lead off it.  And these woods look like something strait out of a MOVIE, no kidding!  It’s like a jungle almost!  It’s damp, with trees of all sorts and GIANT ferns, and GIANT slugs–Yup, that’s how big it is compared to my dad’s hand! :O  Did you know that when a slug is threatened (For instance, picking it up like I do.)  It will produce more slime?  Just pick one up and see for yourself. LOL. 😉  I’ve been helping save the snails and slugs that wonder on the path so that they don’t get crushed by people out in the woods. 😦

What a HUGE stump! Imagine the TREE!  Sorry the photo has lines, my camera has been acting weird. :/
Whoa! I think I might have been crossing my eyes in this one.

Remember that series I’m addicted to called ‘Warriors’ written by four authors under the name Erin Hunter?  Well, back in Georgia, my brothers, my two neighbors AJ and Jordan, my best friend Jenna, and me–would all play ‘Warriors’.  I was leader of ShadowClan, Jenna was my deputy, Jordan was my warrior whom I had apprenticed, (But her father from RiverClan had given her to ShadowClan.)  And Lucas my brother was my apprentice for about 1 day.

AJ was Leader of RiverClan,(Also was the one who gave Jordan up as a kit to me for my ShadowClan apprentice, as he was the father.) Everett was his deputy I do believe, and Clint was his apprentice or Warrior.

Well, in Georgia our yards were OK places to play Warrior cats, but we always really wished that we had a REAL forest to divide up territory, pretend to hunt, mentor apprentices,  just like in the books!  And yet here I am with a vast natural forest, practically at my “paws”.

Only now AJ Jordan and Jenna aren’t here to play it with.  😦  It was kind of hard to play with them, because they hadn’t actually read ANY of the books.  But it was still fun!  BUT–guess what???

Laura and Kristy have read a few books of the first series–and are quite keen on playing the game in the woods! 😀 😀 😀

So we found a large area with tall grass and yellow flowers that we dubbed ‘WindClan’s Territory’.

A swampy area with mud more then a foot deep has been made as ‘ShadowClan’s Territory’.

A wide rocky stream with a ‘Twoleg (The Cats word for Human.)  made bridge built over it has been made ‘RiverClan’s Territory’.

And last but not least, a large clearing with hollows under trees that are purrfect for their dens, has been made ‘ThunderClan’s Territory’.  😀

We tend to stick to ThunderClan because it really looks like it jumped out from the pages of a Warriors book.  But it’s fun to wade in RiverClan and to throw rocks in the swampy water of ShadowClan. 😉

Here are some pictures of my friends and me fighting like the Warriors in ThunderClan’s Territory.  We even reenacted ‘The Battle at Sunningrocks’!

I love this photo, it looks so real somehow, the pose Kristy and Laura have taken on as they “fight”.

And the chase is on!

It looks like Laura is a beaten Warrior in this photo. 😦
And here I stand as ThunderClan’s Leader, trying to look as Leader-like, yet still goofy as possible.

I have a video of us all fighting each other like Warriors that I can post later.  😉

OK, now I do love ‘Warriors’ but from experience know not to bore you about it any longer!  Instead I’ll tell you about a brand new adventure in  my life, just previously unlocked.  And that new thing is–ice skating.

I had never been Ice Skating before in my life until a couple days ago, when Kristy and Laura’s family asked if I wanted to go Ice Skating with them!  (SQUEEEAAAAAA!!!!!)  Only I wasn’t squealing with joy then.  I had been Roller Skating at an indoor rink before, I got OK at it too.  But I’d only been three times…PLUS I’d been skating only on the kind with f0ur wheels on each side so I didn’t have to balance as much.

But as it turns out, the blades on the Ice Skates weren’t as thin and sharp as I’d imagined in my mind, so I could balance fine.  I walked around in them, then went into the rink, my first step on ice was something completely new to me.  When my first foot reached the ice, it was slippery, hard, smooth, and somewhat bright as it reflected the lights in the room.  Trying not to slip, I half walked-half slid while I desperately clung to a wall, until I got to a place where I could practice better.  (Phew!)  There was a wall I could hang on to if I started to fall while I practiced by it.

I didn’t want to use one of the little things you push on the ice, it would make me feel like a little kid.  But my lust to actually glide across the middle of the rink with my friends took over.  I got a push-y thing and began to slide around the rink.  People who could already skate really good were using them for fun anyways! 😛

LOL, I look like I’m skating on High-heels.
This is me standing by my friend Kristy.
From Right to Left: Kristy, TheGirlNamedJack, Laura.

Well, more good news! 🙂  I’m going Ice Skating again with them next week! 😀

I hope y0u enjoyed reading about my new adventures here in Canada! 😀 🙂 😛

Sleepovers and Puppies!

I just love, love, love, sleepovers!  🙂  And I totally got to go on one, no–two sleepovers!  😀

Last week I went to my friend Jenna’s house for a sleepover!  We’re best friends!  I mean like, she comes to my house every weekday, we both like LPS’s (Littlest Petshops.)  We both are obsessed with, and well–we’ve known each other for like 3 years now! 😀

So at her house we had A LOT of fun!  We watched ‘Alvin and the Chipmunks: Chipwrecked’!  Click HERE for the hilarious trailer for the new Chipmunk movie! 😉  (I like when Elenore acts like Goulom from Lord of the Rings! :P)

We swam in her above ground pool–and in her neighbor’s above ground pool.  We had a whole  lot of fun–seriously!  Accept for…The BEES!

Now–I like bees because they pollinate for us–and in that way the plants don’t die so that we still have plenty of oxygen to breath!  But, and I know that this is so that their predators won’t eat them–their stingers I hear really hurt!

Now I’ve never once in my life been stung by a bee, wasp, yellow jacket, anything of that sort.  I don’t remember ever getting bit by anything at all accept for a BILLION mosquitoes!  That’s right I do live in the very humid hunting grounds for mosquitoes called South Georgia.  But soon I’ll be up in Langley Canada! 🙂

Well now, these 2 or so bees kept landing on the ladder to my friend Jenna’s pool.  So we couldn’t get out of her pool! :O  She actually climbed over the edge when one of the bees swooped over our heads!  (I didn’t know my best friend could do that so quickly…)  They kept flying over our heads from time to time, buzzing around while we freaked out and dove under the water for as long as we could.

Her neighbor’s pool was bigger, and didn’t have any bees.  I don’t know how her neighbor wasn’t being terrorized by bees as she swam with her cousin, but well–she was awful lucky to be bee-free!  😉

We swam with her neighbor and her neighbor’s cousin for a while–but all to soon were called inside by Jenna’s mom, because it was getting to be dark.  😦

The reason Jenna was freaking out was because she had just previously been bitten by a bee for the very first time the like last week or so!

But forget the bees–all in all we had a great time!  Here is a photo of us at the sleepover.  –>

We sure do look happy in that photo don’t we?  Lol!

The most previous sleepover took place only last night, at my great aunts house.  My great aunt and I have sleepovers occasionally, my great grandma lives with her (her mom)  and we all have a good time in her little trailer.  She has 3 cats.  Two are black–Sealy and Sam.  Sealy is a long-furred black cat with huge beautiful eyes.  Her brother Sam is the same only with short fur.

She also has King, he’s a very rare breed of cat.  And actually, he used to be ours when I was a little kid.  But then we had to move to California, learned that it would be way to expensive to bring our white Persian, Princess Leigh and our rare Snowshoe Cat, King with us.  So knowing that Re Re (As I call my great aunt)  Was a cat person, gave them to her.  Princess Leigh is now known by the name Rocky, has a Rhinestone caller and lives with a girl or women who takes good care of her.  Like a real princess I guess.

Our Snowshoe, King on the other hand–was given to a black women who took him home–but for reasons unknown the moment he saw her son (or was it brother?)  He freaked out, threw a hissing fit and went under her couch where no soul could touch him.  So Re Re was called, the couch literately picked off the floor so that she could get him, and he’s lived in Re Re’s trailer with her ever since then.  She just loves him, and he loves her too…

Here are some photos of the cats.

This is Sam.

This is King, he is very old as cats go now, walks like an old man, and has arthritis in his back legs.  😦  I sadly have none of Sealy and couldn’t get the flash to work right with King’s eyes.  Lol!  😉

The next day we drove to Jacksonville Florida so that my great grandma could get a checkup from her doctor there.  After that we went to explore in Jacksonville, we ate at “The Olive Garden” which I’d never been to before!  I got spaghetti, and so did my great grandma.  I’m not sure what Re Re got, but it wasn’t really spaghetti.

After eating at The Olive Garden we went to a shop full of materials for art and suing and stuff like that.  I don’t sue, but they do.

Then we went searching for a pet shop to look at the animals and…We wondered upon a place that stole my heart!!!  It was called simply ‘Puppies’  and they sold nothing but–PUPPIES!!!  You could pet them!  And take them out in a closed in play area to play with them!

This is a Golden Retriever pup that my Re Re liked.  🙂

I forgot what breed this is–but isn’t it cute?!

The way this English Bulldog is captured in this photo staring longingly up at me–it breaks my heart and makes me squeal at the same time every time I see this picture!  😦  It didn’t have any friends or brothers or sisters to play with! 😦

I’m not sure what breed of dog this pup is–but my great grandma just loved it!

And finally–The pup that stole my heart in the most nerdiest, cutest way possible.  The one I was dieing to buy even though we our moving to Canada soon…

Isn’t adorable?  It looks like a little wolf pup!  And I LOVE, LOVE, LOVE wolves too!  Huskies are actually related to wolves! 😀

OMG, it looks just like the husky I puppy I have on my D.S game Nintendogs!!!

I had a REALLY fun time playing with it!  The first dog I played with was a baby Pomeranian, I don’t have a photo of it–but this is what they look like.

It looked like that, only brown! 🙂

I also played with a boxer puppy–it was already kind of big, but it was really hyper and cute!  It was brown, and I think it had a creamy or white stripe on its chest.  I don’t have a photo of it either.  Re Re was dieing to own this boxer, she said that if she had a lot of money, and a fenced in backyard–she would totally buy it!

Here’s what it sort of looked like–

Isn’t it cute?

And lastly–a couple weeks ago my mom’s friend brought her two dogs over! 🙂  An about full grown ShitZu named Rango, and Rango’s half sister who is part Shitzu part Chihuahua!  Her name is cookie.

This is Cookie!  Awwwww!  Just imagine her with her ears turned up and you’ll see more of the Chihuahua in her.

This is Rango and Cookie play fighting.  Rango’s got a ridiculous face in that photo.  LOL!

This is Cookie asleep! 🙂

That’s all for today! 😉

Paxton The Unschooled Gamer

I don’t think that I’ve mentioned Paxton before- but I certainly am now.

Paxton is a 10 year old home schooled kid who has dedicated his blog “The Unschooled Gamer.”  To video games!  Hence his name he is a HUGE gamer.  Even considering a gaming career in fact!

Not only that but from what I’ve read he is really good at what he does.  No I have never met him in real life but from his blog you can already tell that he would make good scores in a career of gaming.

He is a fan of Minecraft and has the game Plants V.S Zombies like I do! 🙂

Author’s Note:  I currently can not figure out how to make a working link.  So you’ll just have to look his blog up yourself if you want to see it.  If so then simply type in this:

Do Words Actually Matter?

Trust me, they do!  People who like to read really like words!  I learned as a little kid writing my first book for class in the 1st grade-  Words actually MATTER!

If you use a common word over and over and over again; you’ll get the result of almost everybody gets bored of hearing it.  Even a fancy word used to much can get on your nerves!  Like every single time you described something bad when you wrote.  you only ever wrote “bad,” or “horrifying,”  as your way of describing it.  After awhile pretty much everybody is going to know which words you’ll use for your “dragon” “monster” or whatever it is.

And if you took away some seeming little parts in the story?  You figure out that they aren’t as little after all!  For instance–

Pain.  It’s another word for when you hurt, caused by injury, half the time followed by blood.  Nobody likes it in real life.  But that is why we write about it…

Because it’s real it makes the story more interesting.  Every author probably knows this, and everybody has had pain of some kind and extent from time to time.  I was reluctant about writing my first death scene in the “The War Of The Split Hoofed And Winged.”  For those who have read it you already know what I mean.

I’m a pretty softhearted person.  So that’s why I was a little dubious about writing down the scene of death, no matter how make beleive it was.

There will be more though!  I’ve got to work on it but there will definatly be more! (evil grin).

But I noticed after killing off a character…. I wasn’t sad!  But when I’m the one reading it instead of writing it.  I’m almost in tears some times!  (normally I’m in some quit chair when I read where nobody sees me.)  But it does happen.

And think about this for awhile….

If you took something away from the book, it wouldn’t be as good! 😦

Like if J.K Rowling’s “Harry Potter” series didn’t have pain and romance- she wouldn’t be half as famous as she is now! 😦

That is a reason why words matter. Using many different words to describe something all through out a book.  It makes the reader feel like they are there in the book or the main character themselves! 🙂  Which is why I take such great joy in reading!  And why others do to.  You are sad when a good character dies, triumphant when a war is won, happy when there is joy in the book.  And it’s all because the words are there to make it feel all the more real!

A Little To The Left…

I’ve recently learned how to edit images and in addition- am having quit a lot of fun! 😀

Giving funny captions to the pictures is actually satisfyingly fun.  So I’m going to show the ones that I’ve edited so far.  And yes as an animal lover most will be of animals! 🙂

Oh and about the Bookathon that I’m hosting.  I am yes very well aware that it has been past two weeks and I have not whatsoever posted a chapter EVERY single day! So I’m coming clean in saying that I failed a goal I set myself.  I’m sorry bout’ it all but let me just say… I will still be posting Emily Flameheart chapters on my blog! 🙂

Hope you enjoy my future chapters and these pics! 😉

This tortoise would rather spend his Christmas alone.

                                                                                                             Butterflies can be so vain.

I swear that last time I heard this saying it was different…  Cow’s mouth?  Cat’s mouth???

                                                                                                      Thank goodness it wasn’t poison!

I’m not making fun of Harry Potter or J.K Rowling.  I’m a big fan!

Can I just point out that you animals don’t actually NEED clothes.  You have fur!

Remember how I said most of the photos would be of animals?  Well I meant all of them accept one!  Weird how almost all the animals were complaining…  And the one person was too.  And about that flea or tick that’s on the bulldog…    Uh… What was the Exterminator’s number again??

All right so I’ve got an idea…

If you have a blog or know a friend who would let you put a few posts on their blog, than you can definitely take on this dare! 🙂

I dare you all to write a book within 2 weeks!

Bookathon Rules

1.  Write a chapter every day and post it on your blog every single day for 2 weeks.

2. There is no specific topic you have to write about.

3. There is no requested length for your book so you do not have to make it as long as possible if you don’t want to!

4. lastly, never give up!  This is supposed to be a fun experience for everyone who desires to write!  If you think you’re not a good writer than you’re honestly wrong.  Anybody can be an author if they try hard enough! 🙂

My Carassius auratus’s and Cyrpinidae’s new home.

Yeah I know it may look like some pretty big words up there in the title of this post.  But they are really just scientific words.

Carassius is the scientific name for a gold fish. (at least that’s what Google says.)  And Cyrpinidae is what I got in looking up the scientific name for a minnow.  Pretty cool right?

Well as the title says- they have new homes! 😀

My Carassius named Flare is now living in the tortoise’s old tank.  Here is a pic of him in his new tank.-

I should really buy him some gravel for his new tank.  It looks kind of pitiful right now.  Hopefully he’ll grow bigger in there too!

I got a like 10 new Cyrpinidae who are now inhabiting Flare’s old tank.  Here’s a pic of them in his old tank.-

You can’t see them very well sorry.

And my tortoise has a new tank to! 😀 It’s a lot more bigger than his old one.  Here is a picture of him basking in it.-  Sorry it only shows part of the tank.  We cover it partly with a towel to keep the moisture in.

Well that’s all I really have to say right now! 🙂 See ya later!

Attack Of The Vampire Dog!

The supposed “attack” of the vampire dog that the title clearly says.  Well that’s not actually true…

There is definitely no  “attack” in this post at all.  Truthfully it’s just some freakishly weird pictures of my dog with the flash on.  So I know hat this post is really short.

This would be partly because I’m writing a new book and partly because I’m being lay.  (mostly because I’m being lazy I guess.)

Oh- and I’m sorry that I haven’t written on here in a few days!–

Yeah, and I know that the last pic is just a photo I took of a painting in an art museum, that has nothing to do with vampires! 😉
